The comeback

Friends, I am back. You get a blog post, you get a blog post, and everybody gets a blog post.I have several new ideas that I would like to implement with the blog and I’m excited to share them with you.

Now that I know what I want to do with this platform, I have made a few updates on it because you dear reader, deserve the best. I appreciate your time that you invest here and I want to be able to make this blog enjoyable for you, and a place where you come for inspiration, some laughs and for comfort.

Thank you a million times for the 6 years.

M.I.A. much? You ask. Well, you do deserve an explanation so let’s see what I have been up to?

Travelling.

I have not been in my bed for longer than three months consecutively and, I’ve loved every bit of it. You know what I’m proud of, my body’s ability to adjust to different time zones almost immediately. When it comes to sleep, I do not disappoint.

Working.

For those who’ve been reading this blog since time immemorial, know that my dream was to work for United Nations, travel, and be part of a global team that represents hope and peace. We make our plans but God’s plan always prevails. I am now officially the ‘International Brand Manager of Eve & Nico Company.’ A company that I truly respect, not only because I have ties to it but because of what it stands for. I’ve had to learn on the go.  I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t hard. It has been my greatest challenge but also my most satisfying. When your mother is also your boss, best believe you’ll get a call at 10pm to discuss something work related, every meal is served with a side of work. We don’t stop. What is a 9-5? I have come to appreciate even more how hard my mother works. She’s truly the most hardworking person I know. What is sleep? I’m challenged. I once heard someone say something unfounded and untrue about Eve & Nico and I wished this person could see the work that goes into all of this. But you know what? Not everyone is going to support your hustle or understand it so my advice is breathe, and keep it moving.

Evolving.

As long as one has life, one should have personal development. Change is not always negative. Only dead things are incapable of change. If you’re alive, then show us that you’re still breathing. I’ve had to evaluate this blog, and asked myself, ‘what is it that I want out of this blog?’ Although not entirely different, the person I was in 2012 and who I am in 2017 are nonidentical. I’ve invested a lot of time in myself. Self-awareness is major key. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Don’t ask or expect people to be a better version of them for you if you’re not willing to put in the work. Gain some leverage. My time and money is precious. And I’ve learnt to become even more selfish with whom I allow to enter my space. My space and time isn’t anymore special than yours. We are the same but if you want to live your best life, you’ve got to become honest with yourself. Who isn’t meeting you half way? Who aren’t you meeting half way? Who or what are you living for? What’s weighing you down? What solutions do you have for your problems? Are you confiding in the right person? If you can’t have these honest conversations with yourself, breakdowns are a given.

Change will not come if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. President Barack Obama

What has been on my mind?

The social media.

Oh the fights on twitter. What for now? What for? Many people say the person they are on the social network isn’t the person they are in reality. Were we just born yesterday? That is clearly FALSE! It is not by force to say everything we think.

If you bully someone on the social media platforms, you are therefore a bully. Even with the lights out in your room, whilst you turn in your sleep, you remain a bully.

If you’re mean to someone on the social network then you’re a mean person even if you’ve got numerous followers. Exercise your right to ignore, un-follow, block, report, instead of being dragged down a dark pit hole.

You can be disagreeable on a public platform without being cruel. If you strongly believe in your opinion, it doesn’t mean that the opinions of others are wrong because they don’t fit with yours. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Be respectful. The world is a very small place, and the things we do and say find a way of catching up with us.

Well dear friend, I hope I haven’t kept you waiting for long. May your heart stay well, and may you find joy in the ordinary.

Remember this.

Every human has four endowments – self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change. Stephen Covey

Till next time.
