I wasn’t able to make our weekly post the past week because life got in the way. I will make two posts this week to remain committed to the four posts a week goal. Yes? We can do this. I am actually quite excited to make this journaling list because there’s so much I have discovered in the past three weeks that I’ve been meaning to share with you all. I have my tea ready (it’s 12pm but tea is life), I hope you have yours or you’re somewhere having lunch, or you just woke up. Well…wherever you are, I am glad that you found yourself here and I thank you for sharing your time with me.
Currently in June
I told you I’d be back to my Korean shows. They are super addictive. “Lawless lawyer” has me screaming “oppa” every ten minutes. I think this series comes right under ‘Descedants of the sun’ aka only the best Korean Song Song collabo of our time.
Ah! I just finished reading “Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine”. I have so many nice things to say about this book. It is so current and discusses loneliness, depression, and friendship. It is not a lovey dovey book (which by the way made it even better). This quote from the book was one of my favorites because it was so relatable to me.
But, by careful observation from the sidelines, I’d worked out that social success is often built on pretending just a little. Popular people sometimes have to laugh at things they don’t find very funny, do things they don’t particularly want to, with people whose company they don’t particularly enjoy. Not me. I had decided, years ago, that if the choice was between that or flying solo, then I’d fly solo. It was safer that way.”
Podcast: Small Doses with Amanda Seales. Check out the episode on “Side effects of white women” it is a very interesting discussion.
Last week, I made a “Temps playlist” for my walk. I have Nao, SoMo, Khalid (totally worth checking out), Ella Mai, Zayn on it. Very chilled RnB vibes.
A magazine with Tracee Ellis Ross. How cool is she? How beautiful is she? One of my best friends always gets me magazines with a side of letters (I love letters) every time we meet up. I’ve got tonnes of magazines courtesy of her and I am certain I could start a mini magazine shop.
Tazo – Awake English Breakfast tea. I have been craving simple flavored tea lately.
Walkers shortbread limited edition cookies celebrating HRH Prince harry and Meghan Markle. I honestly got these cookies just to look at and keep around because one should surround oneself with things that make one smile but we have since devoured them like the savages that we are. The African in me will surely keep the empty box and put thread and needles.
Athleisure aka New Yorkers summer uniform. I haven’t even been to the gym since March but athleisure clothes are just too comfortable and convenient especially when one is working from home.
Being back with my family. I especially love the evenings when we are all at home, laughing and eating. God has surely blessed me with the most amazing family.
To get as many of you to please donate and get involved in this wonderful initiative that will shape neurosurgery in Uganda. They have 7 days to get $5000 and to meet the deadline. All of us are needed to help in whatever way we can.
